For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
I am going to make an educated guess that many of us became single parents because we wanted to have our children with us full time, and in order to do so we made an effort to make sure that they did…maybe we had to move, or go to court, argued with lawyers, judges and ex’s, took on extra jobs, or maybe turned down work that would have meant putting in long hours and traveling, all so we could be with our children…
Perhaps in the midst of the dissolution of our relationship with their other parent, or during a time of tragedy or turmoil, when we wanted to curl up in a ball and just sleep, we instead made the extra effort to put our own pain aside to ensure that our children were safe, and that they stayed with us.
Maybe it was not that dramatic, but regardless, we did all we could to ensure that we would not be separated from our children, nor them from our love and care.
And so it is with God and us…as nothing can separate us from the love and Grace of God, as it is a part of our world and our lives, surrounding us like the air and a part of our very souls and spirits. Through Christ and through the support of each other, God ensures that no one is forgotten, no one is lost or alone….but instead, always feels love and needed.
Just as the love we have for our children never fails (though we may not always like what they do), we can never be separated from the love of God, for it surrounds us always, and this is something to be celebrated!!!
Let us Pray
God, thank you for loving us without condition, and for never separating us from your love and grace. Please help us to share that love with our children and each other, and to celebrate our lives together.
