So let us not grow weary in doing what is right, for we will reap at harvest-time, if we do not give up (Galatians 6:9).
Sometimes we can grow weary…
Single parents don’t get many breaks, not do they get much time to themselves, and we can grow weary from all or our responsibilities…there have been times when I lived off of 4 – 5 hours of sleep a night, and was constantly on the go while I was awake.
We know the importance of taking care of ourselves, but there are times when self-care simply takes a backseat to our children because there is not enough time…and when this happens we can get weary!
Yet we keep moving forward, which is why it is important to that we make time for ourselves, and care for ourselves, to do what is right for ourselves so that we have the strength to continue doing what is right for our children.
We can do what is right for ourselves by reaching out to others for help when we get weary, and then listening to them when they suggest we take a time-out, or do something else to take care of ourselves. We can also refresh ourselves through prayer, which can also give us a moment of meditation and peace, which can provide us with strength and rest.
Through the help of others, and the power of God’s love in our lives, we have help when we grow weary and support to see us through our lives and to meet our challenges as single parents.
Let us Pray
God, help us to pay attention to when we get weary, and to then take time to care for ourselves in the midst of our busy lives. Let us remember that caring for ourselves is the best way to take care of our children. Thank you for filling our world with your love and grace, and in those who can share these gifts with us as we journey through our lives with our children.
